Description:

Powder for injection. White to sallow powder.

Indications:

Ceftiofur sodium contains ceftiofur which is a beta-lactamase resistant, broad spectrum, bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic. The product is indicated for:

1.the treatment of cattle with acute respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) somnus and other sensitive bacterial pathogens.

2.the treatment of cattle with acute interdigital necrobacillosis (foul in the foot) in which Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus are involved.

3.the treatment of pigs with bacterial respiratory disease in which Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida or Streptococcus suis are involved,

4.the prevention of chicken due to E. coli infection can cause early death

Contra-indications:

The use of Ceftiofur Sodium Sterile Powder is contra-indicated in animals previously found to be hypersensitive to ceftiofur.

Do not use in poultry (including eggs) due to the risk of spread of antimicrobial resistance to humans.

The use of the product may cause occasional local discomfort upon injection but this is a transient effect.

Dosage and administration

2g vial. Reconstitute by adding 40ml water for injection

Pigs      Administer by intramuscular injection.3~5mg/kg bodyweight, The dose should be given once daily at 24 hour intervals for 3 days in total.

Cattle     Administer by intramuscular injection.1~2mg/kg bodyweight, The dose should be given once daily at 24 hour intervals for 3 days in total.

Chicken   Administer by subcutaneous injection. 0.1mg/kg bodyweight.
