Indications:
In the horse:
-Treatment of the inflammation and the alleviation of pain associated with musculo-skeletal disorders. It is also indicated for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic.
In cattle:
-Alleviation of clinical signs when respiratory disease concurrently with appropriate anti-infective therapy.
Dosage and route of administration:
In the horse:
-Treatment of the inflammation the alleviation of pain associated with musculo-skeletal disorders: 1mg of flunixin per kg bodyweight and per day, equivalent to 1ml of solution per 50kg bodyweight, by intravenous injection for 1 to 5 consecutive days.
-Alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic: 1mg of flunixin per kg bodyweight and per day, equivalent to 1ml of solution per 50 kg bodyweight, by intravenous injection. Treatment may be repeated once or twice if colic recurs.
In cattle:
-2mg of flunixin per kg bodyweight and per day, equivalent to 2ml of solution per 50kg bodyweight, by intravenous or intramuscular injection for 1 to 5 consecutive day.
Operator warnings:
Avoid eye contact and direct contact with skin.
To avoid possible sensitisation reactions, avoid contact with skin. Gloves should be worn during application.
Wash hands after use.
In the case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Avoid accidental self-injection.
Contraindications&Warnings:
Do not use in animals suffering from chronic musculosqueletal disorders.
Do not use in animals suffering from cardiac, hepatic or renal disease.
Do not use in animals with possible gastro-intestinal lesions (gastro-intestinal ulceration or bleeding).
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to flunixin meglumie, other NSAIDs or another component of the product.
Do not use in animals suffering from colic caused by ileus and associated with dehydration.
Do not in cows within the 48 hours before the expected date of the parturition. An increase in stillbirth has been observed.
Withdrawal time:
Horse:-Meat and offal: 10 days.
-Milk: do not use in milking mares when milk is used for human comsumption.
Cattle:-Meat and offal: 10 days.
-Milk: 0 day.
